■ Principles and Characteristics of Ki-Cheon

The characteristics of Ki-Cheon, a traditional martial art, can be summarized as: YukGeun, Bantan, Bobeop, and Banjang. Firstly, YukGeun (reverse muscles) mean changing muscles, which strengthen the muscles of the whole body inwards to build up internal strength and open up blocked flow of bloods. Secondly, Bantan which allows for the use of large forces based on YukGeun. Thirdly, Bobeop which allows free-moving. Forthly, Ban jang receives great power through the flow of curves. Learning these basic principles, correcting the health and center of the mind and body, and further performing the climax of the martial arts is the first goal of Ki-cheon Training.

☯ Static Discipline (Jeong Gong)

This is called “stacking Gong” in Ki-Cheon. It is the same principle that people plant their roots firmly underground when compared to trees. Just as deep-rooted trees can withstand storms, humans can overcome mental stress, physical illness and pain only when the physical framework is solid in them. Therefore, the first step in training is important in completing the form in a static and immobile posture.

☯ Dynamic Discipline (Dong Gong)

Dynamic training refers to physical training. This training method is a movement that does not cause side effects or strain on the body's joints because the body's flow flows like water according to the natural flow, as the “human body is a small universe.” Because the body's flow is natural, it is a preventive medical way to lead a healthy life by not only mental and physical health but also recovering from nervous mental and physical fatigue by facilitating the circulation of bloods, strengthening the 5 intestines and 12 meridians.
